ALVIN MARSHALL- Master Navajo sculptor Born and raised on the Navajo reservation in the four corners area (Colorado, Utah, Arizona, and New Mexico), artist Alvin Marshall has become known and collected worldwide. Following his apprenticeship under another notable Navajo artist, Oreland Joe, Alvin was named ''Best Sculptor of the Year'' in 1983 by the Heard Museum in Arizona. His gallery and museum shows continue to sell out and he has been referred to by R.C. Gorman as a ''true genius.'' Alvin Marshall has earned a decorated position among the very best Native American artists in the country.
